Center’s point in Bowdoinham Maine is a shady walk by the river on a woodsy path, that opens up onto Merrymeeting bay, where six rivers and the ocean converge. Views of Brick Island, Topsham, Dresden and all sorts of wildlife. There is a 1.5 mile hike in with a few ups and downs. It is a leafy riverside walk followed by a large open view.
Join Manon Whittlesey in exploring how interact with wild spaces, and capture an essence of it on paper. Each Watercolor in the Wild session explores fundamental plein air approaches: what to look for when choosing a spot, how to frame a dynamic image, principles of color mixing , line work and more.
Consider making it a weekend in town, as the next day is the Farm/Art walk, where Artists and Farmers offer demonstrations and visits of their work.
In the 2023 Watercolor in the Wild sessions, we will be engaging with Maine's outdoor wilderness and practicing plein air fundamentals in monthly Saturday sessions. These can be taken as a series for progressive learning over the spring and summer, or as a single session .
All levels of artistry are welcome. In a warm and supportive learning environment, beginners will learn fundamentals, more practiced artists will receive feedback around their working process.
